Baseline Study in the Municipality of San Francisco de Opalaca in Inti bucá: Functi on Applicati on Case Academic Linkage University Society

Abstract

Baseline studies fulfill the function of providing a first outline of data on a population to later produce useful information for the preparation of local development plans, programs and projects in order to improve their quality of life. The function of linking University Society is one of the academic dimensions that facilitate the integration of research and teaching in the training process of university students, since it enables their insertion in the development of academic activities with the communi-ties; these activities include community diagnoses and the survey of baselines, stakeholder mapping, participatory planning, action research, and multiple other modalities that account for an educational model with characteristics of integrality, interdisciplinarity, and social commitment. The experience developed since 2019 in the municipality of San Francisco de Opalaca (SFO) is one of the main results of the implementation of a comprehensive and interdisciplinary training process that shows the univer-sity's commitment to honduran society. The objective of this article is to show the results of the baseline understood as a research process for action planning in order to help provide explanations about the SFO context.
