The use of information and communication technologies in medical education

Abstract

The aim of this article is to describe the publications that have been made on the use of Information and Communication Technologies in Medical Teaching, in particular, to identify their characteristics such as: key words, year and country in which the publications were made; objectives; approach and use of instruments; conclusions and recommendations. The methodology used was the systematic review according to PRISMA criteria. A total of 33 published documents were evaluated, using inclusion criteria. The following characteristics were identified in the documents reviewed: Keyword ICT (27.27 %); Year of Publication 2022 (15.15 %) and 2021 (15.15 %); whether they established Objectives (96.97 %); Mixed (27.27 %) and Quantitative Approach (27.27 %); Types of Instruments Questionnaire (42.42 %); whether they established Conclusions (90.91 %); whether they established Recommendations (36.36 %). It is concluded that the use of the key word ICT was most frequently observed in the reviewed documents; they were published in 2021 and 2022, in Colombia; with a Mixed and Quantitative approach; they used questionnaires, concluding and recommending on the importance of the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in medical education.
